Auditor General Maksim Acevski had a meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of North Macedonia H.E. David Geer.
Auditor General presented the key results and added value of SAO operation documented in the Annual Report for 2022 and the action taken in regards to the proposed Draft State Audit Law.
In addition, Auditor General expressed gratitude to Ambassador Geer for the overall support of EU representatives to the State Audit Office as the supreme audit institution in the country.
The Ambassador emphasized the need for complete SAO independence, sufficient financial and human resources for perfroming its function, as well as effective implementation of audit recommendations.
At the same time, Ambassador Geer emphasized that he is familiar with SAO work and activities and evaluated the institution as one of the few in the country with quality and professional performance within its legal competences. He also pointed out that EU Delegation in the country will continue to provide support for SAO for achieving necessary operational and financial independence provided for by the new Draft State Audit Law.
