INTOSAI

SAO is a member of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) since 2001. INTOSAI aims to promote exchange of ideas, knowledge and experience between its members - the supreme audit institutions (SAIs) of countries around the globe, with other international organizations and stakeholders in the field of government auditing.

SAO is a member of INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) since 2001, which aims to increase the expertise in environmental auditing and to enhance environmental governance with high-quality contribution and visibility.

SAO is also a member of the Working Group on Public Debt (WGPD) whose mission is to develop guidelines and other informative materials for the use of SAIs to encourage proper reporting and sound public debt management and to support SAIs in developing knowledge and skills in public debt audit.

EUROSAI

EUROSAI

The European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) is one of the seven regional organizations of INTOSAI founded in 1990 with 30-member SAIs of 29 European countries and the European Court of Auditors, and now it has 51 member. SAO is a member of this organization since 2002. EUROSAI strategic goals are realized through working groups, bodies and task forces.

SAO is an active member of the Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) since 2002, which adopted the vision of INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing - to use the power of public sector audits to leave a positive legacy for future generations by improving the management of natural resources and the environment, and the health and prosperity of the people of Europe.

SAO is also a member of the IT Working Group (ITWG) since 2005, which aims to further the institutional sharing of expertise and experiences between the SAIs of the European region, and to encourage the implementation of joint activities in the field of Information Technology.

In 2011, EUROSAI set up the Task Force on Audit and Ethics, to promote ethical conduct and integrity, both in SAIs and in the public organizations. SAO was an active member and contributed to the work of this task force from its creation until the fulfillment of its mandate in 2021. Audit & Ethics subject was kept as a topic in the Organization’s agenda by establishing EUROSAI Network for Ethics (N.ET), in charge of managing an on-line permanent platform to keep SAIs informed and collaborate on the topics of SAIs’ ethics management and SAIs’ integrity awareness raising, ethics related audit initiatives and anti-corruption. SAO is a member of this Network. 

In 2016, EUROSAI set up the Task Force on Municipality Audit (TFMA), as an open platform for sharing best practice and experience on municipality audit and encouraging cooperative audits. SAO is an active member of this Task Force.
