Today, Auditor General Maksim Acevski held a working meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of North Macedonia H.E. David John Geer and his colleagues Ms. Maria Kanellopoulou, Head of the Economic Section, Institution Building and Cross-Border Cooperation and Mr. Javier Castillo Alvarez, Programme Manager in PFM and Cooperation Section in the EU Delegation in our country.
The meeting focused on the recently published EC Progress Report on North Macedonia, as well as the activities and results achieved within EU supported Twinning project, which SAO successfully implemented with the SAIs of Croatia and Bulgaria.
Auditor General informed the EU Ambassador on SAO activities and achieved results, while emphasizing the continuous commitment to ensure constitutional, operational and financial independence of the institution and to create high quality control environment in the society.
The EU Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the excellent work of the State Audit Office and the successful cooperation so far and emphasized that the European Union will continue to provide support to the State Audit Office in particular in its efforts to ensure constitutional independence aimed at more efficient implementation of SAO recommendations by the competent institutions in the country.
