For establishing institutional cooperation of common interest between the two institutions, Auditor General Mr. Maksim Acevski and Auditor General of Norway Mr. Karl Eirik Schjøtt-Pedersen signed Memorandum of Understanding.
On the occasion of the signing of the MoU and the visit of Auditor General, His Excellency the Ambassador of North Macedonia to Norway Mr. Serdjim Muhamed hosted a reception at the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Oslo.
Within the working visit to OAGN, meeting was also held with Mr. Einar Gørissen, Director General of INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) and his colleagues for considering possibilities for further cooperation and support to SAO professional development.
The MoU with OAGN formalizes a five-year partnership for providing assistance for development of SAO institutional capacities based on the principles and standards for professionalization of INTOSAI and EUROSAI.
The purpose of the cooperation is to strengthen SAO capacities to fulfill its mandate and to perform high-quality audits, which will promote transparency, accountability and good governance in the public funds management in the Republic of North Macedonia.
The cooperation will cover different sectors and types of audit where OAGN has relevant capacities and could add value to SAO work. The cooperation may include support for training activities, development of materials, professional dialogue and advice and joint audits.
During this two-day visit, experiences and practices were exchanged in relation to performance audit and the possibilities for conducting cooperative audits of particular public interest, setting up an innovation laboratory for developing methods and software tools for collecting, analyzing and presenting audit data, modernization of work processes through improvement and connection of digital systems for support and management of processes, and development of IT audit.
In the coming period, both institutions will identify the cooperation activities for implementation of the signed MoU.
