The Annual Report on performed audits and operation of the State Audit Office for 2023 was reviewed and adopted at the Fourteenth Session of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia on 12 September 2024.
In his address before the MPs, Auditor General Maksim Acevski presented SAO Annual Report for 2023, which elaborates on 66 conducted audits, 100 final audit reports issued, 140 auditees covered, and 957 audit findings.
Auditor General emphasized that acting in accordance with INTOSAI auditing standard for making a difference in the lives of citizens as a supreme audit institution, the State Audit Office has identified and applied more than 18 indicators that serve as measurable benchmarks for the institution’s performance.
At the end of his address, Auditor General expressed concern since 46% of the conclusions and opinions issued by the State Audit Office were unfavorable in relation to the financial statements on the performance of public sector entities.
Earlier, on 6 September 2024, Mr. Acevski presented the Annual Report for 2023 at the third session of the Finance and Budget Committee.
