On 13 November 2025, Auditor General Mr. Maksim Acevski, Deputy Auditor General Mr. Orhan Ademi, and representatives from the State Audit Office held a working meeting with H.E. Michalis Rokas, EU Ambassador to North Macedonia, and his team at the Delegation of the European Union in Skopje.
During the meeting, participants exchanged information on the SAO’s ongoing activities and achievements, with a special focus on the audit of the Reform Agenda, the SAO’s role in preventing and combating corruption, the EU’s current technical support to enhance the institution, and future initiatives to further strengthen transparency, accountability, and compliance with international standards and best EU practices.
The EU Ambassador praised the SAO’s commitment to enhancing public accountability and combating corruption, and expressed strong support for:
- the adoption of the new State Audit Law;
- ensuring the operational and financial independence of the SAO;
- proper recognition of SAO employees’ work;
- providing adequate administrative capacity to enable the institution to carry out its legal responsibilities effectively; and
- strengthening the added value of the audits through parliamentary discussion and implementation of recommendations from audit reports.
The State Audit Office expressed gratitude for the EU’s continuous support and its strategic commitment to further strengthen the SAO’s independence, capacities, and effectiveness.
