Bilateral Meeting with the President of the Court of Audit of Italy

Auditor General Mr. Maksim Acevski held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Court of Audit of Italy, Mr. Guido Carlino to discuss institutional development, transparency, and international cooperation.

During the meeting, SAO representatives presented key aspects of institutional development, emphasizing the SAO's continuous advancement by strengthening audit capacities and improving state audit processes.

The presenters also highlighted transparency and active communication with stakeholders as a foundation for increasing trust in audit findings and recommendations. Moreover, the importance of international cooperation for exchanging experiences and good practices aimed at enhancing employees' knowledge and skills through participation in regional and international initiatives was also emphasized.

"The State Audit Office today is a strong, independent, and exemplary institution that continuously strengthens its capacities, introduces innovative audit methodologies, and actively contributes to the improvement of public accountability. Our commitment to professional development and transparency is not just an aspiration, but a reality confirmed through concrete results and the growing impact of audit reports on the public ", stated Mr. Acevski.

The President Mr. Carlino welcomed the developmental momentum of the SAO and emphasized the importance of institutional cooperation in building an efficient and accountable external audit system. He agreed that active and transparent communication with stakeholders not only strengthens trust in audit findings but also contributes to the protection of democratic values and accountability in public funds management. Mr. Carlino stressed that the continuous professional development of employees in these institutions is key to achieving higher standards and efficiency in the audit process itself.

During the discussion, the parties explored opportunities for further strengthening cooperation through joint training, projects, and participation in international organizations, with the goal of improving employee knowledge and skills.

As part of the visit, Mr. Acevski and Mr. Carlino held a working meeting with the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Afrim Gashi, during which they discussed positive practices in EU member states and deepening cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
