On 04 December 2023, Auditor General Maksim Acevski held a meeting with representatives of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women - UN Women, Ms. Ivona Paunovic Bisevac, National Coordinator for Gender Responsive Budgeting Programme and Mr. Ivan Vckov, Project Coordinator for Gender Responsive Budgeting.
At the meeting, representatives of SAO and UN Women signed Memorandum of Understanding and discussed future activities for continuing the successful cooperation.
The signed MoU envisages several areas of cooperation:
- Advancing the implementation of gender equality obligations in line with national laws and policies;
- Promoting gender responsive public financial management and strengthening accountability of the use of public funds for gender equality; and
- Improving SAO capacities for implementation of performance audits on gender equality and including gender perspective in audit practice.
