On 14 March 2023, at the 79th plenary session of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Auditor General Maksim Acevski presented the Annual Report for performed audits and SAO operation for 2021.
In his presentation, Auditor General emphasized that despite the difficulties and challenges caused by the global pandemic of Covid-19 in 2021, due to the well-organized work system and technical conditions provided for unimpeded execution of tasks, SAO successfully completed its program and the results were summarized in the Annual Report for 2021.
In the presence of the MPs, Auditor General emphasized that the mission of each supreme audit institution is to contribute to sound public finance management by giving clear and effective recommendations to auditees, which is SAO core mission and vision.
The Annual Report on performed audits and SAO operation contains 1.170 identified irregularities, 654 recommendations for overcoming identified irregularities presented in 109 issued final audit reports.
At the end of his address, Auditor General pointed out that looking at the results of SAO operation and its contribution to the society, he strongly believes that the new State Audit Law will be passed in the upcoming period and SAO will be embedded in the Constitution as supreme audit institution.
