Training on “Audit of local self-government operations and financial statements” was organized for increasing knowledge and skills of SAO employees. The training (13-16 September 2022) was financially supported by the United Nations Development Program.
The training sessions were held by experienced professional trainers and experts - Prof. Borce Trenovski from the Faculty of Economics at UKIM, Prof. Boris Tušek, international consultant from Croatia, Ms. Lucia Kašiarová, expert from the Slovak Republic, and Ms. Ljiljana Stojanova, Auditor General Advisor and Mr. Ljupce Andreevski, Independent Auditor both from the State Audit Office.
The training covered several areas:
- Preparation for audit of LSGUs financial statements;
- Risk assessment methods for local self-government audit;
- Audit methods for LSGUs financial statements;
- Writing audit reports and recommendations; and
- Audit of LSGUs revenue and expenditure and most common shortcomings identified.
This training for state auditors is an activity resulting from the Memorandum of Understanding signed between SAO and UNDP, and is foreseen in SAO Annual Plan for continuous professional development and training for 2022.
