In view of the long-term successful cooperation between the supreme audit institutions of North Macedonia and Croatia, delegation of the State Audit Office of the Republic of Croatia headed by Auditor General Ivan Klesic paid a visit to SAO from 19 to 22 October. Auditor General Maksim Acevski welcomed the Croatian delegation in Ohrid, within the planned activities of the Twinning project "Improving external audit and parliamentary oversight".
The activities of Component 2 - Improved administrative capacity and external audit processes, focused on sharing practices and experience for improving organizational structure and HR capacities. Within the activities of Component 3 - Improved legislative control function of the Parliament based on review and discussion of SAO audit reports, participants shared experience on how to improve the legislation to ensure adequate parliamentary oversight.
Through active discussion on the similarities and differences of both institutions, the participants identified areas for possible improvements concerning SAO operation and parliamentary oversight.
At the end, it was concluded that this cooperation would be further deepened through the exchange of experience and knowledge between the two institutions within the project activities, as well as by performing cooperative performance audits.
