On 4 November 2021, SAO representatives headed by Auditor General Maksim Acevski and representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office headed by the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of North Macedonia Ljubomir Joveski, held a meeting within the project "Support for Implementation of SAO Communication Strategy 2018-2022”, implemented in cooperation with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy and Resis Institute.
The implementation of SAO Communication Strategy is in the stage where the focus is on structuring and improving communication and cooperation with the Public Prosecutor's Office and other relevant institutions, which would ensure consistent implementation of legal competencies.
Draft communication protocol between SAO and PPO was presented at the meeting, which should contribute to strengthening communication and cooperation, and representatives of both institutions expressed readiness to intensify activities.
The meeting resulted in conclusions as to nominate persons from both institutions for achieving faster and more efficient communication, and initiating learning events for auditors and prosecutors as an opportunity to exchange experience and knowledge. It was also agreed to jointly define a form of the findings and identified shortcomings in the Final Audit Reports for the Public Prosecutor's Office to act upon in line with its legal competencies, as well as to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation.
