On 8 October 2021, delegations of North Macedonia SAI headed by Auditor General Maksim Acevski and Croatia SAI headed by Deputy Auditor General Nediljka Rogosic, together with the President of the Committee on Finance and Budget in the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia Grozdana Peric met with representatives of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia headed by the Vice President of the Assembly Goran Misovski.
The cooperation between SAO and the Assembly of RNM and the review and discussion on audit reports at sessions of the working bodies and at Assembly sessions are of particular importance for the control and supervision of public spending. Using the experience of other countries, discussions have already started with the aim of establishing effective mechanism for review of audit reports.
Auditor General emphasized that reviewing audit reports by the Assembly will provide audit added value as well as appropriate control environment.
The meeting was held within the activities of EU-IPA twinning project "Improving external audit and parliamentary oversight", which envisage strengthening of cooperation between the State Audit Office and the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia.
