SAO and its partners promoted the Twinning Project

Activities and objectives of EU funded (IPA II) Twinning project "Improvement of External Audit and Parliamentary Oversight" were officially presented at the public event in the Europe House Skopje.

Auditor General Maksim Acevski, the President of the Assembly of RNM Talat Xhaferi, the President of the National Audit Office of Bulgaria Tzvetan Tzvetkov, Deputy Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Croatia Nediljka Rogosic and the EU Ambassador David Gere attended the event.

Auditor General Maksim Acevski emphasized the importance of SAO support from the EU Delegation for the project implementation in cooperation with the partner SAIs of Croatia and Bulgaria and the Assembly of the RSM. Mr. Acevski also pointed out that the project activities will contribute to more efficient action of institutions upon the audit reports and will strengthen mutual cooperation.

The President of the Assembly of RNM Talat Xhaferi addressed the participants and informed about consultations that have been initiated in the Assembly about formal review of audit reports aimed at establishing effective mechanism for reviewing audit reports and adopting conclusions.

According to Ambassador David Gere, the Head of EU Delegation to the Republic of North Macedonia, setting up efficient public finance management system is a prerequisite for the development of each country for reducing corruption and increasing citizens' trust in the use of public funds.

Deputy Auditor General of the Republic of Croatia Nediljka Rogosic, emphasized the importance of the work of supreme audit institutions and the audit recommendations, which contribute to the improvement of legislation and efficient use of public funds, and thus improve the lives of the citizens.  

The President of the National Audit Office of the Republic of Bulgaria Tzvetan Tzvetkov, in his address highlighted that with the implementation of project activities for improving legislation, administrative capacity and cooperation with relevant institutions, SAIs are building bridges between countries and institutions, exchange experience and offer best practice.

Project Leaders of three partner SAIs presented the four components with planned activities, as well as results achieved thus far. Video on project activities and expectations was also presented.

The event was broadcasted online and followed by representatives of different institutions among which the Government of RNM, the Public Prosecutor's Office, the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, SAO auditors, as well as representatives of SAIs of Croatia and Bulgaria and the Embassies of Croatia and Bulgaria.
