A delegation from the State Audit Office, led by Auditor General Mr. Maksim Acevski, made an official bilateral visit to the General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 27-28 January 2026 in Riyadh.
On 27 January 2026, during the official visit, Auditor General Mr. Maksim Acevski and H.E. Dr. Houssam Alangari, President of the General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation establishing a framework for a long-term partnership and strengthening collaboration in public sector auditing.
The Memorandum provides for promoting cooperation through the exchange of expertise and best practices, organizing joint training programs and workshops, sharing audit methodologies and manuals, and other forms of collaboration within INTOSAI and relevant regional organizations of supreme audit institutions.
As part of the Memorandum’s implementation, several specific activities have already been planned, including strengthening the State Audit Office’s institutional capacities through international workshops and training programs, as well as a peer review to be conducted by the General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2027.
Additionally, the General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will support the State Audit Office in taking a more active role in international activities within INTOSAI and the IDI, as well as in ARABOSAI and ASOSAI, recognizing the leading role this institution plays in the governing bodies of these organizations.
Through this bilateral cooperation, the State Audit Office reinforces its commitment to building strategic partnerships with leading supreme audit institutions worldwide, aiming to exchange knowledge and experience, strengthen professional capacities, and actively participate in international processes in public sector auditing.
