On 19 February 2025, Auditor General Maksim Acevski and his associates met with Mr. Rimtautas Bartkus, a representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from Washington.
The meeting focused on anti-corruption measures and the State Audit Office's activities in the system for prevention and combating corruption, the key findings noted in the State Audit Office's reports, and the planned audit activities for the upcoming period, while emphasizing the expectations for IMF support both for the country and for the State Audit Office.
In this context, the Auditor General acquainted Mr. Bartkus with the SAO results as the country's Supreme Audit Institution and its achievements in the past period, as well as with the key systemic weaknesses identified in the use of public funds.
The IMF representative expressed satisfaction with the evident progress and achievements of the State Audit Office, highlighting that the State Audit Office serves as an example of an impressive journey toward institutional maturity in the public sector.
