From 2 to 4 February 2026, a delegation from the State Audit Office, led by Auditor General, Mr. Maksim Acevski, participated in the international conference “Artificial Intelligence in Public Sector Auditing” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The conference was organized by the Supreme Audit Institution of the United Arab Emirates, in cooperation with EUROSAI and the Supreme Audit Institution of Israel and focused on digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence in auditing.
During the event, significant bilateral meetings were held with representatives from several supreme audit institutions, including Mr. Matanyahu Englman, State Comptroller and Ombudsman of Israel and President of EUROSAI, and the President of the UAE Accountability Authority, to exchange experiences and explore opportunities for new international cooperation.
Emphasis was placed on the parallel audit of artificial intelligence, in which the State Audit Office is participating together with several European and international supreme audit institutions. Preliminary findings from the audit were also presented.
Mr. Sašo Jakovčevski, Advisor to the Auditor General, participated in the panel discussion, highlighting the importance of transparency and the innovative use of AI tools in the presentation of audit reports.
The conference highlighted common AI-related challenges in public sector auditing and emphasized the need for ongoing capacity building and international cooperation.
