Auditor General Maksim Acevski and President and Deputy President of the National Audit Office of Bulgaria Tzvetan Tzvetkov and Toshko Todorov met with the President of the Assembly Talat Xhaferi.
The cooperation between SAO and the Assembly was discussed, once again demonstrating support of SAO important role in the audit of key institutions. Memorandum of Cooperation between these two institutions is expected to be signed in the upcoming period to ensure, inter alia, reviewing of final audit reports and taking on measures upon audit recommendations.
The main reason for the meeting was the successful cooperation of supreme audit institutions of the Republic of North Macedonia, Republic of Bulgaria and Republic of Croatia as partners within the EU funded Twinning project "Improvement of External Audit and Parliamentary Oversight" MK 18 IPA F1 03 20. The most significant result of the project is the new Draft State Audit Law, which has entered the procedure of reviewing and adoption by the Government and the Assembly.
President Tzvetkov expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet with the President of the Assembly as key partner of supreme audit institutions, and also expressed satisfaction with the professional partnership and friendly relations between both supreme audit institutions, as a great example of cooperation between institutions of neighboring countries.
