At the request of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission in our country, an online meeting was held on 12 May 2021. The Auditor General headed SAO representatives, while IMF mission representatives included Mr. Anton Mangov, economist at the IMF headquarters in Washington and Mr. Dragan Tevdovski, Advisor to the Executive Director at the IMF.

The purpose of the meeting was to inform IMF mission representatives about SAO activities and conducted audits on the use of public funds related to procurement of medical supplies and equipment for protection of citizens from the corona virus. Additionally, IMF representatives were acquainted with the type and scope of planned audits related to the pandemic, as well as with the applied state audit methodology.

Auditor General pointed out that SAO 2020 Annual Work Program included two audits related to the health crisis and the current pandemic – on the manner of conducting public procurement by public sector institutions and on awarding financial assistance in the form of donation of medical equipment and supplies to public healthcare institutions in dealing with the pandemic consequences.

Auditor General also informed that building on the activities implemented so far, SAO 2021 Work Program contains four performance audits on government economic measures, government borrowing and public debt management, employment support for the professions that were most affected by the consequences of the pandemic, as well as measures and policies for support of the tourism sector.
