SAO delegation headed by Auditor General Maksim Acevski participated in the XI Congress of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) on 14 April 2021. SAO delegation included Deputy Auditor General Orhan Ademi, Assistant Auditor General Tanja Janevska and Principal Auditor Elena Dogazanska. Due to the global pandemic with Covid-19, for the first time the Congress was held online through an online platform.
The goals of the XI EUROSAI Congress included:
- Evaluation of results of the work of EUROSAI for the period 2017 - 2020, and
- Discussion on the necessary administrative issues to ensure continuity in the work of EUROSAI.
The XI EUROSAI Congress was hosted by the Czech Republic Supreme Audit Office as the current EUROSAI President. Congress participants included EUROSAI members, international organizations and other SAIs as observers.
Discussions held and decisions taken during the plenary session of the XI Congress focused on the following:
- Reports on EUROSAI operation for the period 2017 - 2021;
- Reports on the implementation of EUROSAI Strategic Plan 2017 - 2024;
- EUROSAI financing, through the adoption of financial statements and audit report for 2020, as well as EUROSAI budget for the period 2022 - 2024, and
- Reports on the cooperation with the International Organization of SAI - INTOSAI and its working bodies.
SAO delegation actively participated in the Congress decision-making through voting on:
- selection of the host of 2024 EUROSAI Congress – SAI of Israel;
- selection of EUROSAI Governing Board members – SAIs of Lithuania and the United Kindgom;
- selection of EUROSAI auditors - SAIs of Croatia and Bulgaria were renewed as auditors of EUROSAI for the financial periods 2021-2023, and
- adoption of amendments to the Statute of EURSAI and the Rules and Procedures of the Congress and approval of the List of Observers of the Congress.
The State Audit Office will continue its active contribution to the work of EUROSAI by participating in the activities of its working bodies and initiatives. EUROSAI currently has 50 members and the State Audit Office is a member since 2002.
