On 1 February 2021, the State Audit Office launched the twinning project "Improvement of External Audit and Parliamentary Oversight". The project will be implemented with EU twinning partners – the State Audit Office of Croatia and the National Audit Office of Bulgaria.
The main goal of the joint project is to improve efficiency and impact of external audit in the Republic of North Macedonia. The specific goals include improvement of external audit through further harmonization of the legal framework and development of methodology tools, as well as strengthening SAO capacities for efficient execution of external audit.
The first online technical meeting was held on 11 February 2021, while the first meeting of the Board of Directors was held on 1 April 2021. The work plan that contains all priority project activities to be implemented by July this year has been prepared. The first short-term experts from Croatia, Bulgaria and Estonia will conduct their missions through online meetings with SAO experts at the end of April.
