From October 7 to October 9, 2025, a conference on the topic “Audit Quality Management System” was held in Sarajevo, Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The conference was organized by the Network of Supreme Audit Institutions of EU Candidate and Potential Candidate Countries and the Supreme Audit Institution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of OECD/SIGMA.
At their invitation, the conference was attended by representatives of the Network of Supreme Audit Institutions of EU Candidate and Potential Candidate Countries, including representatives from the State Audit Office, led by Mr. Maksim Acevski – Auditor General.
In addition to the representatives from the State Audit Office, the conference was attended by participants from 13 countries, as well as representatives from ECA and SIGMA.
The purpose of the conference was to exchange views and experiences among Supreme Audit Institutions regarding the revised ISSAI 140 – Quality Management for Supreme Audit Institutions, which introduces a new, updated framework for quality management. The updated framework encourages and provides guidance for the transition from the traditional model of quality control and assurance to the establishment of a comprehensive risk-based quality management system.
At the conference, organized as a panel discussion with Mr. Maksim Acevski, Auditor General, participated as a panelist. During the discussions, experiences, best practices, and challenges faced by Supreme Audit Institutions in ensuring and improving audit quality were shared. The need for further cooperation among Supreme Audit Institutions was also emphasized, in order to find a practical approach to implementing the revised standard through the use of modern tools for audit quality management and the establishment of a framework tailored to the specific context of each country.
