Today, 30 September 2025, a workshop on strengthening cooperation between the State Audit Office and the Public Prosecutor’s Office was held at the premises of the State Audit Office.
The workshop was opened by the Auditor General, Mr. Maksim Acevski, and the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Ljupcho Kocevski. In their addresses, they emphasized the importance of institutional coordination in the processes of oversight and addressing identified irregularities, highlighting that the partnership between audit and prosecutorial authorities represents a key mechanism for protecting the public interest, combating corruption, and ensuring accountability and integrity in the use of public funds.
Special attention was given to the role and results of the investigative centers within the public prosecutor’s offices, which, as specialized units, contribute to more effective coordination and implementation of investigative procedures. Their work is particularly important in the collection and analysis of data, supporting prosecutors in conducting investigations, and strengthening institutional cooperation, especially in cases related to financial crime and corrupt practices.
As part of the workshop, the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Audit Office and the Public Prosecutor’s Office was also reviewed. The Memorandum provides a solid foundation for joint action and for ensuring the undertaking of more effective measures based on audit reports, with the aim of greater accountability and protection of the public interest.
Separate working sessions were also organized on taking appropriate measures based on audit reports, where experiences and practical challenges were shared with the purpose of enhancing future processes and increasing the effectiveness of institutional mechanisms.
At the end of the workshop, conclusions were reached and future activities were defined, aimed at deepening cooperation, building a joint approach, and achieving greater efficiency in protecting public resources.
