At the workshop on "Strengthening cooperation and communication between the State Audit Office and the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of North Macedonia", representatives from both institutions discussed and exchanged opinions on how to strengthen communication and deepen cooperation
In the introductory speeches, Auditor General Maksim Acevski, Public Prosecutor of the Republic of North Macedonia Ljubomir Joveski, Public Prosecutor of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption Vilma Ruskovska and Public Prosecutor of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office Gavril Bubevski emphasized the need to establish efficient cooperation and communication between the institutions, in particular concerning acting upon final audit reports submitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Conclusions drawn of the two-day workshop relate to joint commitments for frequent communication, coordination and consultation between authorized state auditors that have worked on a report which points to possible abuse and illegal action with the basic public prosecutor competent to act on the specific report. At the same time, it was agreed to strengthen communication between SAO and the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office through designated contact persons.
This workshop was organized within SAO project activities with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) and it is one of the joint activities defined in the Memorandum of Understanding recently signed between the State Audit Office and the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of North Macedonia.
