The State Audit Office in cooperation with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy organized an event / public debate to present the new draft State Audit Law. The event was attended by representatives of the Government and the Assembly of RNM, representatives of state institutions, the EU delegation in Skopje, professional institutions, academia, civil society organizations and SAO employees.
In his introductory address, Auditor General Maksim Acevski expressed gratitude to the participants in the event and pointed out that the draft State Audit Law will ensure financial and operational independence of the supreme audit institution. He also expressed anticipation that the proposed legal text will be supported by the executive and the legislature, as well as by the representatives of the international community.
Participants were also addressed by Mr. Freek Janmaat, representative of EU Delegation in Skopje, Ms. Snezana Kaleska Vanceva, representative of the Assembly of RNM, Ms. Slavica Grkovska, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Good Governance Policies, Ms. Shiret Elezi, representative of the Ministry of Finance and Mr. Damir Neziri, representative of Westminster Foundation for Democracy in the country.
Deputy Auditor General Orhan Ademi and Assistant Auditor General Dobrinka Veskovska presented an overview of the key benefits from the adoption of this law.
In the discussion session, participants had the opportunity to present their comments, suggestions and remarks that will be reviewed and incorporated in the draft State Audit Law.
The adoption of the State Audit Law will ensure compliance with EU recommendations as well as financial and operational independence of the State Audit Office.
