Auditor General Maksim Acevski and his colleagues participated in a regional meeting in Banja Luka, Republika Srpska, together with representatives from SAIs of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
The purpose of the meeting was to exchange opinions and experience on the possibility of preparing and conducting parallel regional gender audit with the main focus on implementation of the Fifth UN SDG - Gender Equality.
By conducting the parallel audit on how institutions implement SDGs, in particular the SDG on gender equality, SAIs can contribute to improving the lives of different groups of women, men and marginalized people.
The State Audit Office successfully conducted the first audit focusing on gender equality and published the final performance audit report on "Effectiveness of Government measures for gender equality and appropriate gender budget initiatives".
The regional meeting was organized in coordination with UN Women regional offices.
